Mossman Gorge Bed and Breakfast is a modern timber Queenslander style, tree top bed and breakfast (ideal for spotting our many resident birds) on rainforest acreage with creek and air-conditioned ensuite bedrooms.
The bed and breakfast overlooks Mossman Gorge and the mountains of Daintree national park, on the outskirts of Mossman, just minutes from Mossman Gorge, 20 minutes from Port Douglas and a little over an hour from Cairns airport to the south and Cape Tribulation to the north.
All rooms have ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning and queen beds. Guests have use of the whole top floor of the house with two verandahs, indoor and outdoor dining and lounge areas, shared limited use kitchen, BBQ and swimming pool.
110 species of birds have been recorded in a yearly cycle from the main guest verandah. Wildlife on the property include, Bandicoot, Striped Possum, Fawn Footed Melomys, Agile Wallaby; many frogs – green, rocket, white lipped; insects from the tiniest ant to the giant Hercules Moth.
Some of our resident flock: Woompoo Fruit Doves, Lovely Fairy Wrens, Double Eyed Fig Parrots, Bridled, Yellow Spotted, Dusky, Graceful and Macleay’s Honeyeaters, Brown cuckoo doves, Emerald doves, Red necked Crakes, Papuan Frogmouth, Brown and Grey Goshawk, Fig Bird, Fairy Gerygone, Brown Gerygone, Spangled Drongo, Olive Backed Sunbird, Yellow Oriel, Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, Kookaburra, Pheasant Coucal, Australian Brush Turkey and Orange Footed scrub fowl.
Seasonal visitors: Lesser Sooty Owl, Lewin’s Honeyeater, Grey Headed Robin, Victoria’s Riflebird, Spotted Cat Bird, Rufous fantail, Channel Billed Cuckoo, Spectacled and Black faced monarch, Pied Imperial Pigeon, Forest Kingfisher, Buff Breasted Paradise Kingfisher, Metallic Starling, King Parrot, Top Knot Pigeon, Eastern Koel and Pacific Baza.
Guiding and tours can be arranged to suit our guests with Del – Fine Feather Tours, Murray – Daintree Boatman and Doug – Bird Watching Tropical Australia, all of which are within a short drive or pick up can be arranged.
