NT Bird SpecialistsNT Bird Specialists

Luke Paterson has joined the NT Bird Specialists team as a guide for the Top End region of the Northern Territory.
Tours offered will cover the Nature's Way triangle of Darwin, Mary River Wetlands, Katherine, Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks and surrounding areas.
Tours will be based on a 3, 4 or 5 day tour picking up and dropping off in Darwin. Tours will be in good 4 WD vehicles, fully accommodated with all meals included (no alcohol included) and one or two cruises as appropriate.
We are happy to tailor make tours to suit groups. We will specialize in small groups and particular purpose groups.
Luke's interest in birds has developed over many years after camping trips around the state of Victoria with his family triggered off his passion for these winged beauties. After completing his studies of Natural Resource Management in Bendigo, he moved to Broome, where he worked as an Assistant Warden at the Broome Bird Observatory.

Luke led bird watching tours around the magnificent Roebuck Bay and surrounding environments, where he also assisted in the capturing and research of various bird species involving mist and cannon netting.

From Broome he moved to Darwin and has been working throughout the top end for more than eight years. His passion for birds has only got stronger through the years.
Luke has the necessary Kakadu permits and is accredited with Birds Australia.

He will be happy to meet with previous clients of Mike Ostwald who wish to return to the Top End of the Northern Territory and share the birds again from a different perspective.
Mike will be available to assist Luke on special charters or where two guides are necessary for larger groups.

Endemic Bird Tours Australia

Endemic Bird Tours Australia specialises in customised birdwatching tours throughout Australia. Our focus is to provide you with the most rewarding birding experience possible - whether you wish to see numerous species at a faster pace or fewer species at a gentler pace, we are here to arrange a tour that suits you.

We are based in the Hunter Valley (on the east coast of New South Wales, 2 hours from Sydney International Airport) though are able to arrange extended tours that take in the many unique birding areas around Australia, including the Top End, South-west WA, Queensland Wet Tropics, the arid interior and Tasmania. These are just examples of places we can take you – please tell us what you wish to see and we will customise an itinerary to suit you at very competitive prices. With over 330 endemic species of birds, Australia is a country not be missed for seeing unique birds found nowhere else on Earth. Indeed, Australia is considered a world ‘hotspot’ of endemism, not only in terms of birds, but in biodiversity in general (for example Australia ranks as the country with the most endemic reptiles and mammals and second in terms of birds – only Indonesia ranks higher). Keep in mind that we are not restricted to just birdwatching tours - we are able to show you many unique facets of the Australian environment. Please take a look around our website and feel free to contact us if you have any queries.
