Eden at Fogg Dam Bed & Breakfast
Is conveniently located just 2 km from Fogg Dam Nature Reserve, internationally renowned as a birdwatcher's paradise, and en route to World Heritage Kakadu National Park. has guided in the Top End for over 22 years, mainly around Darwin, Kakadu, western Arnhem Land and the southern Top End, and west into the Kimberleys, including work with 'Society Expeditions' around the coast of northern Australia, and in eastern Indonesia, PNG and Irian Jaya.

Denise specializes in mangrove birds, including the elusive Chestnut Rail. She also carried out biological surveys of birds (as well as other fauna and flora) throughout the Top End for several years, knows most species intimately and where they can be found, and prefers to use non-intrusive means of showing people birds and other animals.

Denise is a senior member of a semi-traditional Aboriginal clan who live in Arnhem Land. She also works as a wildlife and cross-cultural consultant for television, and writes bird books. She lectures, and runs workshops for indigenous people interested in birdwatching/wildlife tourism.

Denise�s contribution is acknowledged in Simpson & Day�s Field Guide to the Birds of Australia.

NT Bird Specialists

Luke Paterson has joined the NT Bird Specialists team as a guide for the Top End region of the Northern Territory.
Tours offered will cover the Nature's Way triangle of Darwin, Mary River Wetlands, Katherine, Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks and surrounding areas.
Tours will be based on a 3, 4 or 5 day tour picking up and dropping off in Darwin. Tours will be in good 4 WD vehicles, fully accommodated with all meals included (no alcohol included) and one or two cruises as appropriate.
We are happy to tailor make tours to suit groups. We will specialize in small groups and particular purpose groups.
Luke's interest in birds has developed over many years after camping trips around the state of Victoria with his family triggered off his passion for these winged beauties. After completing his studies of Natural Resource Management in Bendigo, he moved to Broome, where he worked as an Assistant Warden at the Broome Bird Observatory.

Luke led bird watching tours around the magnificent Roebuck Bay and surrounding environments, where he also assisted in the capturing and research of various bird species involving mist and cannon netting.

From Broome he moved to Darwin and has been working throughout the top end for more than eight years. His passion for birds has only got stronger through the years.
Luke has the necessary Kakadu permits and is accredited with Birds Australia.

He will be happy to meet with previous clients of Mike Ostwald who wish to return to the Top End of the Northern Territory and share the birds again from a different perspective.
Mike will be available to assist Luke on special charters or where two guides are necessary for larger groups.

Birdwatching Aficionados - Jonny Schoenjahn

I specialize in customised birdwatching tours and operate exclusively on request. There are no standard tours or regular schedules. I only take one booking at a time with a maximum of 4 people. This means you will be the only customers on the tour and my attention is focused on your pleasure.

All tours are accommodated in personally selected, quality accommodation. The exception being tours such as through the Great Sandy Desert in search of the rare Princess Parrot, where we will camp. My vehicle is a very comfortable, spacy and well equipped Toyota Landcruiser 4WD. With most tours you have the option to 'fly and drive', the choice is yours.
