Rakhi Retreat provides peaceful accommodation and bird watching on the boundary of a native paperbark wet season lagoon and Eucalyptus woodland. You will have exclusive use of the 5acre property and it’s just 20 minutes drive from the world renowned birding site Fogg Dam. The property and those adjacent are covered in native bush and back on to the 10 hectare Lakewood Reserve.
We have seen over 80 species at Rakhi in recent years and constructed a bird hide from paperbark sourced on the property. Rakhi provides an idyllic bird watching experience. There is a significant diversity of native flora and fauna on the property and there is something happening at all times of year. A more detailed description of the Rakhi Ecology and a bird and plant list can be found on the Rakhi Retreat website.
Rakhi has been beautifully finished with locally sourced ironwood and has both an effective passive cooling design and air conditioning. The eco-house has 2 bedrooms and sleeps up to 5 people. It has a large open living space, gourmet kitchen and a spacious shower. The stand alone cabin, which is only available with the house, can sleep an additional 4-6 people. The Humpty Doo shopping centre is 7 minutes drive away.
