I am a relatively recently retired medical practitioner living in Melbourne close to the CBD/downtown area (and only 500 metres from the cruise liner and Tasmania ferry terminals). I have birded in many countries as well as throughout Australia and still travel extensively. I am available most days – when not travelling myself. I do not charge – I do it for pleasure, and the hospitality I receive on my own travels is sufficient reward.
I would be pleased to assist visiting birders with information, advice and guiding (and even on occasion accommodation). I regularly take visitors to the Western Treatment Plant at Werribee and other Melbourne area locations.
I do not do bird photography and would advise anyone primarily interested in photography to seek out someone more experienced and enthusiastic about this aspect of birding (I can suggest one or two local bird photographers).
If you have other interests you would like to pursue while here in addition to birding I would be happy to assist, eg with a game of golf or exploring parts of Melbourne by bicycle.
Please call or email to explore possibilities or to ask for advice or assistance.
