Accommodation Wings Barossa Bird & Bush Retreat

Bird Watching, Peace, Nature, Comfort

A total experience, not just another B&B

Wings is a self-contained, two storeyed, 3 queen bedroom country homestead.
Slate and polished timber floors complement leather and antique furnishings contributing to your luxury stay.

The homestead, exclusively yours, 7 km west of Springton high in the Barossa ranges, is set on 170 acres. Rolling hills and valleys are clad with native vegetation including huge gums resulting in natural habitat for extensive native bird and mammal species, many to be observed from the comfort of the homestead.
Decades of natural regeneration and extensive areas of conservation planting surrounding peaceful grassy glades and a large lake, make Wings a perfect natural retreat.

The 12 km of mown and marked walking trails by means of which you can explore every part of Wings, facilitate great bird and wildlife watching without leaving this unique property.
The retreat has stunning views over the Eden Valley, with the surrounding farmland, native bush, and vineyards ensuring your peace, privacy and superb birdwatching.

As there are no other dwellings on the property, this self-contained retreat is exclusively yours.

There is a fully equipped kitchen and large family BBQ for you to prepare those special treats to be enjoyed under the vines, or you might prefer to use the catering service exclusively provided to our guests by a local restaurant, ranging from gourmet breakfasts, lunches, and dinners to picnic hampers and barbecue packs.

With 170 acres of native flora and fauna, Wings provides everything for those who love a natural environment to relax and enjoy peace, nature and birdwatching in comfort. It offers a remote experience, only one hour's picturesque drive from Adelaide. This is a perfect getaway birdwatching retreat without the hassle of a long drive.

Acclaimed birdwatching reserves of "Altona CSR Landcare Reserve" and the "Cromer Conservation Park" and the "Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park" are close by. These you can visit on your own or we can provide a range of professionally guided birdwatching tours some of which include wine tastings at local wineries.

Being in the international acclaimed Barossa wine region Wings is surrounded by award winning wineries, the village of Springton, with local pub, store and acclaimed "Bucks Bistro", golf course, tennis courts only 5 minutes (7km) away and the larger villages of Mount Pleasant and Williamstown about a 10 minute drive.

Australasian Ornithological Services Pty Ltd
Australian Ornithological Services (formerly Inland Bird Tours) started in Deniliquin in the southern Riverina area of N.S.W. 15 years ago.
The main focus of those tours was the Plains-wanderer. While the Plains-wanderer is still our flagship species we have increased our repertoire to include all States of Australia and New Zealand, specialising in difficult skulkers and nocturnal birds.
We are the inland specialists for serious birders. We endeavour to ensure that the whole group see the birds and not just a lucky few.

Tour leader, Philip Maher, is interested in all aspects of natural history.

Endemic Bird Tours Australia

Endemic Bird Tours Australia specialises in customised birdwatching tours throughout Australia. Our focus is to provide you with the most rewarding birding experience possible - whether you wish to see numerous species at a faster pace or fewer species at a gentler pace, we are here to arrange a tour that suits you.

We are based in the Hunter Valley (on the east coast of New South Wales, 2 hours from Sydney International Airport) though are able to arrange extended tours that take in the many unique birding areas around Australia, including the Top End, South-west WA, Queensland Wet Tropics, the arid interior and Tasmania. These are just examples of places we can take you – please tell us what you wish to see and we will customise an itinerary to suit you at very competitive prices.

With over 330 endemic species of birds, Australia is a country not be missed for seeing unique birds found nowhere else on Earth. Indeed, Australia is considered a world ‘hotspot’ of endemism, not only in terms of birds, but in biodiversity in general (for example Australia ranks as the country with the most endemic reptiles and mammals and second in terms of birds – only Indonesia ranks higher).

Keep in mind that we are not restricted to just birdwatching tours - we are able to show you many unique facets of the Australian environment. Please take a look around our website and feel free to contact us if you have any queries.
