Gondwana Connection

GONDWANA CONNECTION Wildlife Tours offer a number of trip options to get out there and experience the wonderful diversity of wildlife to be found within the southern areas of Western Australia.

Regardless of how long you have to explore this region, we have a tour to suit. Whether it is a single day, three days or six days, there are various options available. The tours of three days or more, allow for the opportunity to pick up all of the SW Endemic Birds except the Western Ground Parrot. You just need to give us some initial guidance of what you are looking for and we will put together a special personal experience.

The majority of what we do is land based, but during February and March, there is the option to include a one day cruise into a three or six day tour. This will allow participants to experience what is believed to be the largest congregation of Orca (Killer Whales) in the Southern Hemisphere. This obviously exposes us to a nice little introduction to the pelagic bird species of the Southern Ocean. For those with varied interests!

Our Full Day Tours from Perth accommodation houses are primarily for the birders and with approximately 200 species to be found close to Perth, we can normally tick between 60 & 80 species for the day. This list could include 11 of the 16 south-west endemics. With the striking Western Rosella, the gregarious Short-billed Black Cockatoo and of course the elusive Red-eared Firetail all being desirable targets.

Given the varied habitats within this area, we will tailor each day’s itinerary to cover your personal interests. On the other hand you can allow us to present an overview of our local environs and the remarkable variety of inhabitants within.

We also do day trips to the Dryandra State Forest allowing for a much different selection of bird species. This involves 2hrs travel each way. All tours are carried out personally by owner/operator Des Hume.
